Winter Brings Cozy vibes…But for some Teens, It Brings heavy emotions.

Short days. Less sunlight. Freezing temps.

Winter can bring up some heavy emotions and for teens, that shift can happen fast.

You might start noticing your teen pulling away from friends, skipping family time, or letting good habits slide.

These changes aren’t “being dramatic.” They’re signs their mental health needs extra support.

That’s why I created COZY—a simple, grounding acronym to help your teen (and you!) stay emotionally steady this winter.

C O Z Y

C — Create memories
✨ Plan one fun thing each week to look forward to. Connection is medicine.

O — Organize your life
📅 Lock in routines: studying, movement, sleep, nutrition. Consistency = stability.

Z — Zzz (prioritize sleep)
😴 Encourage earlier nights, calmer evenings, and real rest.

Y — You’re not alone
💛 Remind them regularly that support is around them—even when they can’t feel it.

And because winter should still be fun, here are some teen-approved activities to add to your calendar:

• Hot chocolate bar

• Holiday movie night

• Gingerbread decorating contest

• Cookie decorating party

• Thrift store scavenger hunt

• Holiday markets & lights
